hi guys, i i wish some one could help me solve this problem; i was loading a new windows biz. unto a frozen windows vista basic machine. i could nt do any back up disc cos it does nt start up.
after about 2 hrs of loading files to the computer there comes an error message that the system can't load the files.
now am trying 2 get back to my old frozen state but does stop from booting over and over again. i must say that i only chose the option to push the files n stuff to windows.old so i could go catch it in a second moment but now i dont even get the chance to start it up at all. any help please?

I'm not sure I understood your description of the issue, but if it involved a crash or some sort of abend during an install begun by booting of a Vista disc, that generally hints at a hardware problem.

hi,
sorry but i did nt talk about the issue again because i have very little information about that pc. i know its a packard bell desktop machine running windows vista home basic. this is because this is a friend's pc that is not starting up and i needed to fix. sadly he does nt have neither the original CD, nor back up CDs nor any documentations to conduct me to the real specifications of the pc.
from the first look at the problem it seemed a virus infection since it would take about 45mins to start up and at the very first click get frozen. So i tried loading a Norton Anti virus software onto it but it would nt execute on its own.
I changed the boot order and got it boot, but after inserting the product key on request, the pc gets scanned for almost 2hrs, completes the scan and stops then tries to restart up again and again and again.
Trying to use safe mode to solve it did nt work, partly because i lacked the technical know how and also because after the first two faulty attempts to run safe mode the pc would nt allow me get there any more.
finally i decided loading my own windows vista business cd onto it in the bid to restart it then may be try to restore its files from windows.old but after loading the initial files from the cd the pc stopped with the error: "the operation can't be completed because the files could nt be copied to the specified destination"(or a similar thing, am not all that sure because i don't have the pc here) and it stopped.
i could nt have it restart again at all because it keeps booting and rebooting so i gave up the try since my skill did nt go beyond that point. that is why i did nt post any thing concerning the problem again.
Permit me to thank you for the concern shown in asking whether or not i was able to sort it out.
but before i let go of you may i ask this: could you tell me the usual commands that are normally typed to resolve such problems as mine using safe mode?
thanx once again.
kojalley.
