Issues with Hard Drive, OS

Hey all. After finding out that my previous hard drive was corrupted, I went out and bought a 1.5tb Seagate Barracuda. I put it in my computer, plugged it in, and then tried to download my Vista Home Premium 64bit but found that I was unable to. After going through half the setup, I reached the point where it asked where I wanted to install windows. My only option was "Disk 0 Partition 1". With that selected, I hit next and I got the following error message: "Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selected for installation. Error code: 0x80070057." After this, the installation was cancelled. It's extremely frustrating because this is a brand new hard drive, and I can't get it to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Strikeout711,

Can you fill in your system specs please. It could be a limitation of your BIOS not being able to see a drive of that size as one partition - to that end, have you tried creating a smaller partition on the drive during setup? Click on Drive Options (advanced) at the point indicated in the appropriate Tutorial.

Step 13 http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/68767-clean-install-upgrade-vista.html
Step 10 http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-vista.html

Select New and adjust the partition size as required. You should then be able to install Vista into this partition.

It is also possible that the problem is a driver problem, in which case you will need to click on Load Driver at the appropriate point indicated above. You will need to provide the appropriate driver(s) on removeable media, so we will need your system specs (specifically the make and model number of your motherboard) so that these can be located.
