programs starting for multiple users

When I have 2 user sessions open and I a program in the current session, the program also opens in the other session. When I do this with iTunes, it opens in the active window and when I go to switch user there is an error in the other window thatiTunes can not open in 2 sessions. When I use the buttons on the HP key board, the same thing happens, though for these programs, they do open in the other session.

I used to have XP set up with multiple users, but this never happened. Is there something in Vista that tell it to open programs in all user sessions when a program is opened?

I have an out of the box HP Pavillion running Vista home premium SP1 and an HP keyboard with short cut bottuns for email, internet, search, ets.

I am having the same problem. Seems only to happen with iTunes. When I open itunes, I get frequent 'error' tones coming from my other sign on, and when I go back to my first account, there are 50 or so error windows stating "unable to open iTunes -- another user has this open."

I figured there was a program running in the background and trying to access iTunes, but I doubt that--I have disabled all but the bare minimum programs on startup thru the msconfig utility.

Please help!

OK so now after some tweaking, the problem has disappeared (for now.)

Here's what I did:

Un-checked all but the most essential programs (including quicktime) in the startup tab of 'msconfig'. I guessed on some of these that lookes like they might use iTunes for something visual or audio.

Un-checked all of the boxes in iTunes that looked like they would 'search' for something or 'share' something.

Let me know if this works for you, and I'll re-post if the problem comes back. Gonna be hard to type with my fingers crossed...
