| Vista Business x64 | Changing default folder open path? Hey guys, My PC is currently partitioned, my OS is installed on a 30gb partition to just host the OS, and the rest of my disk is the D partition. Unfortunately I do not know of a way to make Vista think that my "My Documents" folder / area would be on a different disk, so I manually made my own and use it on the other partition. One of the things I find super annoying is whenever I go to open a file, for example try to attach something to an email, it by default goes to the My Documents area on the C Drive. Is there a way to change the path that it goes to first when opening / attaching files like that? Thanks! |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Changing default folder open path? Hello Punkrulz, This tutorial below can help show you how to change the default location of your C:\Users\(user name)\Doucments folder to open from the D: partition location instead. However, be sure to read the warning box at the top of the tutorial about doing this with the Documents folder if you have programs that save files to this location. Personal User Shell Folders - Move Location Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Business x64 | Re: Changing default folder open path? Thanks Shawn, this is exactly what I was looking for. I've gone ahead and made the changes. I do have one program that despite setting the new location as it's folder on the other partition, it continues re-adding the folders in the original location when the application is opened (Gimp). Still looking on how to resolve that. I'm going to give this a shot and post back if I have any issues. I attempted to find this in the tutorials section, however looked under F for folders, U for user, or C for change... not H for how. |
