Re: A problem with Highlight newly installed programs

Thats not a problem. Eventually the highlight will go away. If it bothers you though, you can turn the highlight feature off.

right click taskbar>Properties>Start menu>Customize>uncheck box, click ok.

You don't understand. The problem is when i install new programs they aren't highlighted only 3 programs and normally whne i click the highlight must dissapear no? But it doesn't and this error is when i install the windows 2 weeks or later ....

It doesnt always work that way. I have had newly installed program folders stay highlighted even after I clicked on them. Eventually It will stop highlighting the new program.

Now if you have an issue where after weeks the highlighted folder is still highlighted, or new installs do not highlight at all its possible you may have corrupted the registry.

Follow the step above to turn off, then turn highlight back on, or look here.

1) Start the Windows Registry Editor by typing “regedit” in the Start -> Search box and press Enter . Click on continue if you see user Account Control dialogue box.
2) In the Windows Registry Editor, locate the key called:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
This can be done by clicking on the + sign near each item as mentioned above and select Advanced key
3) In the right-hand pane, look for the value called “Start_NotifyNewApps”.
4) If the value does not exist, then right click on the right pane and select New and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value. Then type “Start_NotifyNewApps” (without the quote) as the name of the new DWORD Value, and press Enter.
5) Right-click the “Start_NotifyNewApps”, and in the popup menu select Modify…
6) Change the Value data to a zero (0), and click OK.
7) Now close the Registry Editor.
