Hybrid Sleep Problem

I've recently put in a new motherboard on my computer. The EVGA 750i SLI FTW Edition. Now since I've put this board in I can't go into Hybrid Sleep properly. It'll power down like it used to and it'll start to power back up but it hangs on a black screen and I have to do a hard reset. I don't know if this has something to do with the new mobo or if there are some settings in vista or the bios not right but I've tried many websites' advice along with a guide on this site to fix the problem and nothing has worked.

If you haven't already done so, you should reinstall the OS any time that you swap motherboards. Vista is more tolerant of those sorts of "extreme makeover" hardware changes than previous versions of Windows, but there's no need to risk it. New motherboard = new install.

That's really good advice, and my own rule-of thumb as well.

But...as a temporary work-around, you might try booting into safe mode and installing the latest version of the chipset driver for the new motherboard and reinstalling the video driver.

If that allows a normal boot to Vista's desktop, check Device Manager to see if any other motherboard-specific device drivers might be required (or look at the messages in the system tray).

Even if that step results in what appears to be a normally functioning system, I'd stlll hold off on activation until after I could make time to strip the hard drive partition in which Vista will live down to bare metal and perform a clean install of both the operating system and the applications it will run.

I did format my HDD and reinstall vista after installing my mobo so I don't think its that. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers. Multiple versions of those drivers as well.

OK...wasn't clear from the original post. The behavior you describe is typically driver-related, but if you can't resolve it by updating (or perhaps using the ones that came on the utility CD that shipped with the motherboard) I think it's time to check with EVGA...or at least get the problem into their system.

I'm more familiar with Intel-chipset motherboards so I'm not sure if there are BIOS settings that the nVidia chipset needs to make sleep work...but I'd look in both the power management and video sections for likely candidates.

Well from what I've gather online for the bios side of things. S3 ACPI Suspend mode needs to be enabled. I've tried having just S3 enabled and having S1 and S3 enabled and neither seem to make a difference.
