Lots of Vista Issues, Need Help!

I'll start out by saying I'm not the least bit technical, so please go easy on me here. I have a Compaq Presario CQ50 that was just purchased in November. About a week after we got it, I started getting the dreaded blue screen and it kept shutting down on me. Internet would also freeze. Went round and round with tech support, nothing they did ever seemed to fix the problem, but all of the sudden one day after an automatic Windows update, it was working fine. Fast forward a few months. Started getting some random issues over the last several weeks. Blue screen and Internet freezing again, then keyboard and touchpad stopped working. Tech support had me change some configuration settings in the BIOS and it started working again. The a couple days later, I turned on the system one day and was getting the "unable to start" error and it couldn't ever be fixed. Tech Support did a system restore that got me started, but lots of things were disabled that shouldn't have been and we couldn't get the Internet to work, so he recommended I back up and do a system recovery since something was obviously wrong. Did that, worked fine for about a day, then went to turn it on the other day and got the same "unable to start" again. This time, it was able to fix it and start. The only program I've added since the recovery was a webdesign program. Had it before as well. Thought I was in the clear, but now I keep getting the Blue Screen and it keeps restarting on me. Then today I went to reinstall my printer and it won't install. During the installation, I get an error message, something about 1% not found win32. Sorry, I should have written it down. I called Tech Support again and they wanted me to send it in, but I absolutely can't do that as I run a business and can't be without it that long. So they told me to take it to Best Buy, which I will, but I'd love to be able to figure this out of my own so I don't have to be without my computer for an extended period of time. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Here's the message I got with my last Blue Screen this evening if that helps...

When facing multiple issues, it's generally a good idea to start with the most severe one first and then tackle whatever remains. The BSoD is the obvious place to start.

That "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini042409-01.dmp" file referenced in the BSoD error contains info which may help someone explain the cause of your crash(es). If you copy that DMP file and any other recent files in the same location to a different folder, then zip them up and upload them here, it may be possible for someone to analyse them and tell you what led to the BSoD.

Thanks, I'll try to do that. Just now my keyboard quit working. The error I got after a restart was that the Symantec Service Framework stopped working. What's that all about?

You may have one of the defective nVidia graphics chips. Ask support about that possibility next time you talk to them.

Thanks for all that. Today I got the Blue Screen, then when I restarted, my desktop wouldn't load, finally got it with another restart. Another error message I got today said my display driver stopped working then recovered.

Are these likely all related to one major issue or do they sound isolated? It's just odd to me that it's all been happening immediately after a recovery.

I found the minidump files from my blue screen. I'd love it if someone could take a look, I just don't know how to upload them. I'll start browsing to figure it out...

Sounds like you got corruption to me.

Have you tried a sfc /scannow to check for corrupted sysem files or a disk check?

Start>All Programs>Acessories>Right Click Command Prompt>"Run as Administrator">at command prompt, copy and paste the following>hit "Enter": (or just type cmd in search at start, right click program "run as administrator")
(Do not close command (cmd) screen-flashing cursor in empty space indicates defrag running. see note below or page 2 of this tutorial (second post from bottom to see screen shots of the 3 defrag stages))

sfc /scannow

Start>Computer>Right Click "C" drive>Click Properties>Tools>Error Checking-Click "Check Now">Under Check Disk Options click "Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors"> Restart Computer
