Problem with DVD-RAM write

I have a Mat****a-dvd-ram-uj-840s in my Qosmio Laptop. I had upgraded from xp to Vista 32. I never had problems reading/writing with my DVD. Now it sometimes does not recognize if there is a file on the DVD or CD RAM... it also no longer writes DVD or CDRAM correctly. I think this may be due to a virus i recently had. Are there any fixes you can recommend? I do see the drive in My Computer. thank

I don't know why your burns sometimes fail, but I'd like to suggest to any representatives of "Mat****a" who may be watching that it's high time to reconsider their choice of company name in this global economy, lest all mention of them should continue to be automatically censored by web forum software :p
