Shortcuts messed up help plzz

For some reason my shortcuts have program icons on them. I used a Windows teaking program awhile ago to remove the shortcut arrows and I dont think thats the problem cause' its been fine until now.

Hello Connor, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Yep, that would be the problem. It looks like the tweaking program that you used had used the wrong XP method in Vista and messed up the shortcut overlay on the shortcut icons. You can use the tutorial below to restore the default shortcut arrows.

Unfortunatly I have another problem. When using the restore arrow method in the tutorial I cant find the Blank.ico file in C:\Windows. I did a search and didn't find it. Thanks for your very professional help so far.:D

BTW: You have an amazing PC. Blows mine out of the water ten fold.

That would just be for when you have used step 2 in that tutorial before to remove the shortcut arrow. You should still be able to apply the .reg file to restore the default registry settings and the shortcut arrows though.

Thats what I thought was happening, but I added the registry and I still have the problem.

Did you restart afterwards?

If you did, you might try the Frameworx program in the tutorial to see if you can change the shortcut icon back to the normal shortcut arrow instead.

When I use the frameworx program and I click apply I get this error. I think it may be trying to change a file that has been accidentaly deleted. I have restarted a few time.

You might see if installing Microsoft Net FrameWork will allow that program to run properly afterwards.
