Safely remove usb device issues

The Cool Guy

In XP, when safely removing flash drive or any other usb device, the light on the flash drive goes off and I can remove it. But in vista even though i choose safely remove hardware the light still stays on. Is there and update for this bug? Or does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks

The harm, from what I understand, is that the file may get corrupted or that the device may be compromised.
