Solved Can't create shortcuts via Right-Click

About a week ago I noticed that I could no longer right-click and create shortcuts. When I click on New > Shortcut, nothing happens, and I can't figure out why...

I'm running Vista Home Premium.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me, its extremely aggravating.

Thanks :)

it also sounds like your registry is messed up so that it's not offering you that choice anymore..
maybe there's an easy way u can edit the registry entry for the context menus inside windows explorer...i'm sure there must be.

i haven't done it, but i would imagine you'd be using REGEDIT for that purpose.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions everyone. Unfortunately, nothing seems to be fixing it :(. I turned off system restore, so it looks like I have a fresh installation of vista in my very near future.

Mike, I have updated the .reg file there to include more default registry settings for this. You might see if it may work now for you.

THANK YOU so much. I'm a computer wiz I FINALLY fixed sfc /scannow on my mom's Windows Vista 64bit and I'm slowly fixing it.

I have restarted the computer at least 5 times and scanned it using SFC It has SO MANY problems.

The right click new short cut wasn't working, I DO NOT like messing with the registry

But thanks to you IT WORKS :) thank you so much :)
