Screen Saver to black unresponsive screen

I am having a very wierd issue with vista's screen saver. So basically when I leave the comp idle it goes into screen saver then turns off the monitor after 15 mins. Sometimes, more often than not, I come back and move the mouse and hit a few keys on the keyboard and nothing. The monitor wont come out of standby I try turning it off and back on, and nothing. I have the latest drivers for everything in my system and I checked the power management settings and they both are able to wake the computer up. I have a G15 keyboard and I keep the leds on and when this happens the leds are off and the lazer for the mouse is off too. Any suggestions as to what my problem is would be fantastic!

Thanks.

/me makes "lazer" airquote gestures

Inability to successfully complete power state transitions (awake<->asleep<->hibernating) is almost always caused by driver or BIOS issues. If you're confident that all the drivers are on their latest versions, have you also done the same for the BIOS?

Yes I am running the latest bios, actually its a beta bios from gigabyte. Since I made the post more interesting things have happened, basically the computer stays on and the power to all the accessories are cut off, like mouse and keyboard so they cant move and take the comp out of sleep. Could perhaps a fresh install of vista help, I have been wanting to reinstall just laziness has kept me from doing it

Hello again, I checked for the latest BIOS and upgraded to it, running for a while to see if it has the same problems

Re: Screen Saver to black unresponsive screen

I think I fixed the problem. I am running an OC'ed q9650 and I think the voltage was a little low for windows to like, i bumped the voltage up a 0.05 and it has not frozen on me yet. I ran memtest for 4-5 hours with no errors or anything at the lower voltage but I guess windows like higher voltage (Wierd? I think so). Anyway if anything freezes again ill update my post

Overclocked components are being driven beyond their design specs which makes their behaviour unpredictable.
