How to remove a program entry from the general "Open With" dialog box?

I have double entries of a same program in the main "Open With" dialog box. They are not particularly associated with a certain file extension. Dose anyone know how to delete one of them?

Hello Xuantu, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You can navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\OpenWithList in the registry, and delete the subkeys (boxed in red below) for the Open With entries you do not want.

Hope this helps,

Thank you for your reply.

The program I messed up was Windows Photo Gallery. I could not find it in the subkeys at the place where you showed me.

Hi,

You may find this free app. from Nir Sofer easier to use:

OpenWithView - Disable/Enable items in the 'Open With' dialog-box of Windows

Hope it helps
