chkdsk, ?? auto in vista

hi,im told that vista dose this "chkdsk" automaticaly, so my question is ?? do i need to run a chkdsk before i do a defrag ,as i used to do in xp thanks:confused:

Vista does check the disks on startup but im not sure if its a thorough as chkdsk , but i never use it before i defrag , infact ive never used it since ive had Vista , never had any problems so never needed too , never used it with XP either , not before a defrag pass anyway

thanks for the reply,i sopose im still thinking "windows 98",where it was always advisable to run "chkdsk" before a defrag cheers:o

It wont matter. There's no hard and fast rule. I prefer chkdsk :c/r and then a defrag.
