Mouse Does not work after the system resumes from sleep

The problem is that that wireless mouse does not work after the system resumes from sleep mode - I can use the mouse to wake the system but after the system resumes from sleep i am not able to use the wireless mouse - but after a hard reboot is done the wireless mouse works fine.


- What can be the problem. ????

Try updating the BIOS and the mouse driver.

Power state transition problems almost always come down to the BIOS or the relevant driver. It's actually not easy for anything except the BIOS or the relevant hardware driver to produce that effect. (It would have to be a filter driver which was "attached" to the device object.)

As far as whether it's 30 days old, that's presumably the time since you parted with your hard-earned and walked out of the shop with the box. It may be considerably longer than 30 days since the system was built, or the BIOS on that model was updated across the board, or since the wireless mouse driver was coded... more than a year in some cases.

This is a known problem with Vista. The only way I have found to get round it is to use the Vista drivers instead. The drawback is that you will lose some of the more advanced mouse features.

I regret not. I remember doing a search in Google and finding the answer somewhere. I now just shutdown rather than using the sleep mode which had been causing some other strange things as well.

I regret not. I remember doing a search in Google and finding the answer somewhere. I now just shutdown rather than using the sleep mode which had been causing some other strange things as well.

Without specific info to the contrary, if reverting to the in-built OS driver fixes the symptom, that virtually proves that the driver which came with the mouse is at fault.

I agree entirely. Whether MS come out with a fix or not will probably depend on how many people are affected. All I remember is finding the answer somewhere on the web. I tried it and it worked. But, as I said before, I reverted to the MS drivers and just shutdown each day.

The fix presumably has to come from the developer of the specific mouse driver. Unless you and the OP just happen to have the same mouse - and use the same driver - there's no reason to assume the fix will be the same either.
