Virtual PC Performance in Vista Ultimate 64

I have recently installed Windows 7 RC as a 32-bit guest OS in Virtual PC on my Windows Vista Ultimate x64 host. I do have Virtual PC setup for x64. This machine runs an Intel DP35DP motherboard with 8GB of Corsair Balistix RAM and a Q6600 (2.4GHz Quad Core) processor. It's a screamer of a machine. However, all of my VMs seem to be slower than my work machine. My video card is an ATI Radeon HD3870. I have 4 internal SATA 300 hard drives. I have allocated 2GB of RAM for the VM on this host.

My work machine, running the same VM copy is a Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz machine, with 4GB of RAM (3GB only visible) running Windows XP 32-bit as the host and Windows 7 RC 32-bit as the Guest. I have allocated 1GB of RAM for the VM on this host.

Yet, Windows 7 appears to run significantly faster on the lower end machine. Any ideas? IS this a problem with running 32-bit guest on a 64-bit host?
