organization of Pictures folder

Help please!
I'm trying to arrange my picture folders, spatially, in a particular way (which is no problem at all on our main PC, with Windows XP. Everything stays just where I left it).
On my laptop ,Vista can't seem to remember my arrangement, and if I change something like size of icon, it reverts to a block of folders, undoing everything. What am I doing wrong?

Vista seems to have a problem with this. You set your folder preferences and then it changes them back for you.

The same thing happens to me with my Music folders. I want it to remember the "Details" settings and "Size All Columns To Fit" but it insists on changing back to what it thinks it should be, which is opposite of what I want.

thanks... But it's dispiriting isn't it?
Does anyone else know if we can get vista to do what we want/

If Brink's method doesn't work, I doubt anything else will. His method seems to work for many; I don't know why it doesn't work for me and some others. So try it. If that doesn't work, keep searching the net for an answer - maybe someone will find one.

If you find a solution, please post here so others - including myself - can try it on our machines as well. From what I hear, 7 is not any better in its present development, so all we can do is hope that MS finds a Fix for this and releases it soon.
