i stupidly just assumed that my laptop would easily upgrade from a 32 bit to a 64 bit with no issues. However now i have looked into it i am unsure if my laptop is compatible with it after i purchased it. i have a sony vaio ar71s and it is currently running 32 bit vista home premium, is it upgradable to vista ultimate 64 bit ? thanks fredd:cry:

its unlikely to be honest mate , the reason being alot of the hardware in yuor laptop will/may be specific to sony. so the only place you will be able to get drivers for their hardware is through sony (i know that people have particular trouble with the sony graphics chip) , if they dont do a 64 bit driver chances are you wont find one anywhere else.

thats the problem with shop bought especially laptops , they can be a very specific to the manufacturer , id email them see if you get any joy that way , as technically there is no reason why there would/should be a problem
