Media Player not responding in Skin Mode

I am running Vista Home Premium 32-bit with Windows Media Player 11 installed. Just a couple of days ago, I put the Player in Skin Mode, and it stopped responding. When I close out and re-open it, it opens in skin mode, and fails to respond at all. I've never had this problem before. I thought maybe my most recent updates affected it somehow, so I did a System Restore to before those updates. WMP opened in full mode, but still failed to respond when I changed to Skin Mode. Any advice would be appreciated.

A skin or visualisation pug-in that you installed brought AlbumArt3D.dll with it, and that DLL is causing WMP to crash. In fact, that DLL is fairly old on your machine - "Mon, 20 Mar 2006 02:08:26 UTC" (441e0e9a).

You should try to work out what/where that DLL came from and hence either update it with a newer version (in the hope that its bugs will be fixed), or remove it if no updates are available.

A quick web search yields an MS newsgroups discussion which matches your situation very closely:
