Disk Drive Policies ?

Hi.

I would like to change the "Disk Drive Policies" (see attached screenshot).

If I check the box "Enable write caching on disk" and "Enable advanced performance" and then click ok and after that I reopen the "Policies" again evrything is like it was before I made the changes.

Is there anything I can do in order that the changes I make will be accepted and won't jump back to the previous settings?

Thanks in advance,

Some disks don't expose external controls for modifying their cache settings. Note the text there in your screenshot - "This device does not allow its write cache setting to be modified."

The fact that you're still offered a functional tickbox is likely a UI issue, but that's of little consequence.

.......thanks for your reply.

Is there another way then to modify the cache settings...?...

Unless the manufacturer provides a different mechanism for controlling caching behaviour, the drive is stuck in one mode or another. It's very likely that the disk's internal caching is permanently enabled - you don't have to do anything specific in Windows.

.......the hard disk is a TOSHIBA MK2035GSS, 186.31 GB and I can't find anything to change the cache settings for this drive.

Is there a certain place to look for in order to change the settings...?...
