Vista - Windows 7 Aero Themes...

How can I use the Aero Themes that come in windows 7 in my vista OS?

I have not tried this, but you may be able to save your theme in Windows 7 as a themepack file, copy the file into Vista, and double click on it in Vista to install it.

You may need to manually copy the wallpaper into Vista still though.

you have to go to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes and copy the theme to your vista desktop. Then you have to patch your vista with something like vista glazz. Copy the theme to the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes folder on your vista computer.Go into personalise and change your theme to the windows 7 one.


I don't think the seven theme will work on vista though. Why don't you have browse around deviantart and find exactly what theme you want?

Thanks Shawn I will try that later on and comeback to tell you guys how it went.

I think you are correct, the windows 7 aero themes (slideshow desktop wallpapers to be more specific) seem to Not want to work in vista because I did download a few windows 7 themepacks and vista was not able to do anything with them... it kept asking me for an app to open them.

I am very weary of using 3rd party slideshow apps or themes but if you guys here think those are safe, I will give it a shot.

I would say that you may need to manually copy over the files (ex: wallpaper, sounds, etc....) from Windows 7 to Vista, then create the theme in Vista instead if the thempack will not work.

Well, as usual, I have given up on this, I did found a nice desktop wallpaper in vista... I just needed to turn Aero On.

I don't usually waste to much time with eye candy but I have this thing against walking away from challenges, no matter how trivial they are

I do like the wallpaper I am using at the moment but I am sure in a few weeks I'll go tired of it and will seek your help once again.

I use most of the things and they work great.

I'm alot like you, after a week or two I need a new desktop wallpaper.
I usely struggle to fins a decent one though.
