Change settings for Windows Explorer

Hello,

I want to change the settings of Windows explorer to open in a specific folder. I can do this for the shortcut under Programs>Accessories> Windows Explorer.

But doing so does not affect the settings of Windows Explorer when I invoke it with the keyboard shortcut : "Windows-Key + E"

no it wont because the keyboard shortcut opens explorer directly it doesnt go through the shortcut route you have edited. Im assuming windows has its own macro for this combination i have no idea how you would edit it , maybe somebody else could help

i think you will be able to do it with third party software like auto hotkey and then write your own macro , although i think you'll probably have to map it to a differant key combination

have i got the wrong end of the stick with this problem? I was assuming he had already changed the default location for opening but wanted the keyboard shrtcut (windows key/E) to open explorer in the same way..........i must be getting old :p or stupid ;)

Thanks for the replies.

Shawn, the tutorial does not cover changing properties of explorer invoked by using "WindowsKey-E". I can change the properties of program under Accessories but that does not change how the explorer opens with "WindowsKey-E".

Any suggestions how the "WindowsKey-E" can be reprogrammed?

None that I know of, but you can create a keyboard shortcut for the Windows Explorer shortcut to use to open to the new location instead.
