Formatting HD

Hi,

I understand (from previous posts) thst i need to re-format my HD to FAT as its NTFS at the moment and XP doesn't like it and wont install,
I have booted my laptop from the disk and its ready to r-format the HD but will only let me format as NTFS how do i change it to FAT???

NTFS is much better for XP its more secure , why do want to format your hard drive in FAT?
