I have a problem with my new Vista 32 home premium computer - every 20 mins or so my computer freezes/hangs for about 15 - 20 seconds. Has anyone resolved this? - I have seen it on many other forums but none of the fixes work - the problem got very serious and I would get this temporary freeze every few minutes - I tried some of the solutions posted on other forums e.g. changing power settings to performance, changing my theme etc - these worked to some extent - now the freeze happens two or three times an hour - i cannot see CPU usuage or task manager because everything stops - for about 15-20 secs. if I am watching a video or listening to music it sounds like a stuck record.

This is so frustrating please help..

using Vista 32 home premium on a nexths computer with i7 processor and gigabyte mtherboard

thanks

Uninstall your anti-virus long enough to check whether it makes a difference and update all drivers: NIC, video, audio...

Updating the BIOS and chipset drivers wouldn't hurt either.

That type of problem is very frequently caused by a driver going ga-ga for a few seconds, possibly because it's polling for something.

I am having the same problem. The only good resolve for me is to restart the computer. I have tried disabling the network card and doing a repair. This did not work. It seems that by restarting it is clearing out something just can not seem to figure out what. After restarting it works great but over time the hangs become for frequent as if a register if filling.

I’d agree. Disable your anti-virus and try reinstalling drivers. It sounds, from what I’ve read from you and others, that you could be seeing a driver that’s malfunctioning.
