moving files automatically cancelled/interrupt

hi i've been setting up a computer and i've been moving several terabytes from folder to folder and particularly from hdd to hdd. i've just encountered a problem when moving a folder where the "move" automatically cancels itself; and thereby moving only partially the content. has anyone encountered this problem, and what is causing this and what can i do to resolve? thanks
