Moving my entire personal folder

I know I can easily Move the Documents/Pictures folders by modifying the location form in the folder's properties, but how do I move my Josh (user) folder? I set up a seperate partition where I want this folder to go, where I'll store all my movies, pictures etc.

cheers

Oh btw I've just done a full format so the user files are empty, I'm just going to move it to a new location and then move my backed up files over.

If you open up C: drive you will see a folder called Users I moved that entire folder to D: drive. Is that what you want to do?

I can't cut and paste it, so the original is still in C: Drive. When I got to the start menu, and click Josh, it still takes me to the folder in C: drive. I want that to point to E: drive instead.

I honestly cant remember what i did (I should have written it down :() I remember that youv got to do the following first to enable you to see all the files:

1. Click the Vista start orb
2. Click Computer
3. Click Organize then Folder and Search Options
4. Click the View tab
5. Click Show hidden files and folders
6. Click OK

This enables you to see files and folders like the App Data folder. Il post the rest later il need to look at it again to remind myself lol. What i do remeber is that once the entire folder has been moved you then need to go into the registry and change every C:\Users to E:\Users

How about, like I used to do in XP, in Windows Explorer right click and drag your user folder to the drive you want and select "move here".

Bugger. I just wanted to make the Josh tab on the start menu point to a different location. I suppose I'll go for a wander into the registry for a bit then, shouldn't take too long.

That link that LeeTutor gave you is exactly what you need to do but when you get to step 14 dont download any software.

Do a manual search of the registry instaed. Its tedious doing it but it ensures you change every entry, as software can miss some.

Oh yeah I wouldn't trust anyone but myself to snag all those little reg entries.

Cheers fellas, I'll get onto this on the weekend.
