| vista home premium | Internet shortcut icons Hi I hope it is OK to just ask a question here - apologies if I breaf forum etiquette! When I create a new desktop shortcut to a webpage, I like to assign a distinctive icon to it - either an ICO file, or it seems possible to assign a BMP bitmap image. Trouble is, windows keeps changing it back to the default internet shortcut icon. Any ideas why, and how to stop it? Thanks! Trev |

| vista home premium | Re: Internet shortcut icons Thanks Fastboy. Yep, that's how I change them - right click, props, chage icon, select new icon from list, click apply, then close. The new icon is now assigned to my shortcut - Great! Trouble is, ten minutes later, or after I have used the shortcut with the new icon, Windows changes it back to the standard icon!!! Thats my problem, the new association gets reverted back to the default. Any more ideas! Thanks again Trev |

| vista home premium | Re: Internet shortcut icons Hi Shawn Thanks very much, I'll try some of those, theres obviously a lot of knowledge about this, but crikey! it's all a bit painful, isn't it?! Just to change a couple of icons to make them stand out!!! I don't want the same one for every IE7 shortcut, I want to choose distinctive ones for like-minded links - seems to be more useful than Vista can cope with (:={ What is odd here, is that quite often the new icon image sticks and stays for ever - even if it's one of my own BMP images, while seemingly at random, other assignments are reverted to the IE7 default almost immediately..... Thanks anyway, much appreciated my friend Trev |
