Boot Manager Problem

I just recently obtained a Asus laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit with SP1 preloaded. Earlier I had it on, not being plugged in, and the battery went dead. Upon this I went to restart it and came to being stuck at the Boot Manager.

File:\windows\system32\winload.exe

Status:0xc0000225

Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

it tells me to insert and load the installation disc, but as it was pre-loaded, I do not have it. It also gives me the option to run Windows Memory Diagnostic, but when I select it and press Enter, it simply does nothing but goes back to the previous screan. Any help would be greatly apprecitaed. Thanks in advance.

if your boot manager is corrupt theres little hope of getting your old OS back up and running , im assuming you'll have all the files needed to reformat on a separate partition on your hard drive , these are usually accessable by pressing (for example) F9 upon bootup , giving you your repair/reformat options

Im thinking the only way out of this is a repair so goto the Asus website lookup your laptop and select "support" and somewhere there it will tell you what keypress to select on bootup and how to go about repairing your operating system , a repair install will keep your files folders etc so is the way forward

edit....ive just had a poke around the net and it seems F9 is the key that will let you acess the repair reformat options , so as soon as you start booting your laptop keep pressing F9 about once a second till yuo are presented with your format options
