So I was recently given an OEM copy of Vista Ultimate along with its product key. Now I was assured that the computer that these came with was never started up or activated with Vista, but of course I'm a little wary. So before I just reformat my whole deal and try to install Vista, I'd like to know if the product key is valid and not currently in use. Is there any way to verify a product key without having to install Vista first? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Slinky, and welcome to Vista Forums.
I'm sorry, but the only way to tell it to try and activate it after the installation.
However, you can create a new partition to install and try to activate it on as a workaround to test before doing a complete clean install.
