Drive A assigned to 3.5 floppy that's not there?

New Member
Ok, new guy here, just did a search and came across this site. I know a lot about computers as far as hardware, but not all that much about the inner workings of OS's. So here's my problem. I have a Drive letter A that's assigned to a 3.5 floppy that's not physically in my computer. It shows up in My Computer, but does not show up in Disk Mgmt. The letter is not available in Disk Mgmt either. Can someone tell me how to get rid of this thing please?

Hello Joe, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Double check in the CMOS settings in the BIOS to see if Floppy support is enabled. If it is, then disabling it should remove the A: drive for you.

If it is still there after you have disabled the floppy support then ensure that the floppy disk controller is also disabled, (it is not always turned off at default).
