Cannot boot into Vista

I wanted to see what kinda the other vista boot screen would be if you untick the "No GUI boot" thing from msconfig. However, when I booted Vista loads that picture (there is no moving bar or anything) and suddenly gives me this error code:

0xc0000225

NLS data is missing or corrupt, vista cannot boot, contact system administrator, blah blah blah.

Honestly, is Vista really this kinda OS? You disable GUI boot and you need to reinstall the whole OS? I really need to know how I can fix this. I also have ubuntu on this same pc and I can fully access vista files with it, if that's a helpful information. Safe mode also gives that error.

You might see if running a Startup Repair may be able to fix this for you.

I just tried Startup Repair, "bootrec /fixmbr" (just messed up my grub), "bootrec /fixboot" and "bootrec /rebuildbcd" but none of them fixed this, so I'm sure that this happens just because I don't have GUI boot enabled :(.

I tried to launch "C:/Windows/System32/msconfig.exe" from cmd with Vista DVD, but apparently Vista DVD doesn't have admin rights..........

Is it possible to enable GUI boot without msconfig.exe or can I somehow run it as admin with the Vista DVD?

Not sure either other than it may have had something to do with the Linux grub.

You can see if booting into the command prompt from your Vista installation DVD, then running the command bcdedit.exe /set quietboot off to turn off (uncheck) the "No GUI Boot" option may help.

Well this issue has nothing to do with GRUB. GRUB is just a bootloader that you need if you want to even have the option to boot into linux (you can't do that with windows bootloader and for good reason).

Anyways, when I tried that command Vista claims that the reference cannot be found :/ (I tried both
"bcdedit.exe /set quietboot" off and "C:/Windows/System32/bcdedit.exe /set quietboot off").

Though, I can just run bcdedit.exe, which shows my boot settings.

Well Vista did actually complain with the Startup Repair that bootloader could not be found so I did all those commands after restoring Windows bootloader but still it gives me the same error..

I even tried deleting the winload.mui.exe from C:/Windows/System32/en-US but Vista just created it back and still gives me the same error.

Is there some configuration file for vista boot options :(?

:) Well, I'll just try last possible things like deleting the whole system32 and recovering it :).

Well thanks for your advice, maybe next time I wont enable GUI boot :D.
