I have a buddy that is no longer able to burn dvd's from vista os but is able to use 3rd party app to burn dvds on the same pc. Checked for virus (none), connected an external burner and this is doing the same thing, did the steps provided in another post to disable/enable the service in vista with no luck, removed app and still not able to burn but when app is reinstalled he is able to use it to burn. No other errors to speak of ... when burning from the os, the pc just sits there and nothing happens. Able to use the same pc and burner to play DVD's, reinstalled drivers did not fix the issue ... i am thinking a restore of the pc to factory to resolve ... any insite? thank you
