Vista lika a Mac :)

Hello everyone

The other day i was sitting next to my mate who was making notes on his MacBook.
The cool thing i saw on that Mac was that, when not in use for a few seconds, the screen saver or the power saver doesn't appear, but first the brightness of the screen got to its minimum and then the screen went into power saver mode.

Is there a way to make my Vista do that as well? So instead of a screen saver, it would just turn the brightness to its lowest point and after a few minutes, it would go completely dark to save energy?

Thanks very much for your help.

You can change the power settings by right-clicking your power meter in your tray, then select "Power Options" form the menu. From there, click on "change plan settings" under Power Saver. Once you do that, you can change the time for when you want the display to turn off on battery and while plugged in.

Thanks for your advice. I'm really sorry about my English and not making myself clear enough.

I already know how to change my brightness on battery or when plugged in. What i'd like to achieve is to somehow tweak Vista to behave like a mobile phone.

In other words, i want (while for example on High performance option) it to turn off its backlight (like a mobile does) and then after some time, if i still don't use the system, turn the display off.

Is that actually possible to do?

Thanks again

If you want it to behave just like that, then I'd say no, there isn't an option exactly like that.

The option I presented can help you dim your screen, but if you follow the steps, you can also control when your monitor shuts off (in terms of minutes of non-use).

Hope this helps.

Turning off the screen is better than dimming it, it makes your battery last longer. It only takes seconds for the screen to come back on once there is activity.

roy69 is right here. Turning off your screen (through the methods I outlined above) can really cut down on your battery usage and prolong your screen's life.
