Hey everyone, ok so was my first time attempting to set up raid five.

I currently have in my computer (3) 500GB WD Sata drives (10) 1TB WD (1) Seagate Baracuda which my OS (vista ultimate 64-bit) is installed on. I recently had built this system a few months ago. So here are some specs on the mobo:

Foxconn AD7A-S w/ Phenom 9850, 8GB DDR 9600gt blah blah blah.

I had Vista previously installed but I was learning about RAID 5 in my networking class and I really thought it would be neat to have one. Not necessary...neat.

Now before I went to reinstall vista I wiped all the HD's clean and enabled RAID in the BIOS and went into the utility and set it for raid 5. I had enabled the 3 WD disks that I was going to use for raid five but when I go into disk managment all I see is the C: 80GB Boot partition Disk (0) and D: 1TB NTFS Partition Disk (1).

Where are the other three disk? I want to cry like a little girl, someone plz help me!

Sounds right, you're seeing a 1TB RAID5 array where you see the capacity of two disks combined with a third being used for parity information to repair the array should one disk fail.

Thanks Davva!

Now another thing, if 1 of those 3 disks fails...how do I know which one it is?

If you're using the RAID on your motherboard, it'll tell you on there when you enter the diagnostics.

If you use a RAID card, the software that comes with that should tell you.
