nVidia 780i SLI & 7F POST Error....

Yesterday, I FINALLY got my Cooler Master HAF 932 case from Newegg.com. So I ripped all hardware from my old tower (only a few months old rig, but tower wasn't providing sufficient cooling), while grounded of course, and began installing all of the hardware components into the new tower. As I was installing all of the components, I was blowing out all of the dust with Dust Off to remove any foreign matter.

Now upon bootup, I noticed that I had received a command line during POST, stating, "F1 to continue, or Delete to enter Setup". I then looked at the digit LED's on the mobo and they displayed "7F". I looked up the definition of that error code in my mobo's manual and it states, name - "POST Error Check" / description - "Check POST error and display them and ask for user intervention".

So I hit F1 to continue, the digit LED's display "FF" and I go straight to desktop. EVERYTHING appears fine... internet works, programs work, good response time, everything (I haven't attempted to play any games since this was about 1 a.m. last nite). I went online to look up a cause and remedy and most forums are stating that it appears to be a video card problem. But these people are getting a black screen on bootup. I am not. Once I hit F1, it's ok. But rebooting provides me with the same error again. They also recommended re-seating everything, and possibly moving the video card to another slot. I did this, same thing happens. I've manually went into setup and reset all settings to factory defaults in BIOS. Restarted, and the same thing happens, once again.

Today I read that some are stating that resetting the CMOS jumper should fix the problem. My questions are:

--- What could resetting the CMOS jumper do to solve this problem, if I've already reset the BIOS to factory defaults?

--- Anyone else ever have this problem and how did they fix it?

AFAIK, resetting the Cmos is the only way to be 100% sure that you have reverted to factory defaults.

Other than that... I'm stumped!

Thank you VERY much for a response! That's basically what I've been reading from other forums. I will give that a try. The only difference from my scenario than others, they all received a long, single beep followed by two smaller beeps during post. And they all have blank screens during startup. Mine still performs as normal. And I know for a FACT that all of these components work properly. That's why I'm stumped.

This is probably a noob question, but why would I suddenly need to clear the CMOS when all I did was switch between cases?

I figured it out. For some reason BIOS was set for a Floppy Drive. Problem was.... there isn't one installed. ;)

Fixed it though
