Hibernation "Wake Up" problem

Ever since getting the Hibernation feature functioning on my machine about a month ago I've noticed a very peculiar problem with the machine waking up on its own, usually when I'm not around, and I need to know how to stop it. It usually happens after the PC has been powered down for several hours. Today I had put it into Hibernation and then went out, and several hours later when I got home the thing was on, apparently having turned on by itself.

Does anyone know the reason for this and how it can be stopped? This has occurred on about four separate occasions so far over the last month.

if you really want to use hibernation (i would not use it cause of issues), sounds like your computer may be waking up with the your lan card. go into the network card propeties in device manager and turn wake up with lan to OFF.

other than that could be windows checking for updates a virus scan or so on.

Both Network adapters are unchecked already for wake up.

This is the only problem I'm having using Hibernation. Are you using the Sleep option instead rather than always completely powering down?

I had the machine in Hibernation for over six hours just now and it didn't power up on its own. Most of the time that's the way it goes. I'll have to look into other potential power up issues that might be causing it.

Thanks.

FYI - Similar happening - I use sleep mode when my laptop is not being used. I have noticed that it too, wakes unprompted at times. [when no scans etc are set to operate.]
Curious. Why is it so?
[ I haven't checked the tutorial mentioned by fadedrs yet to see if it is relevant.]
