Vista installation problem,, i need help ASAP

I have a formatted internal HD on my Inspiron 1525 laptop that im attempting to do a clean installation of windows vista basic on it. I am trying to do this using the reinstallation cd that came with my computer. When I run from the DVD and install, I get to the "Where do you ant to install windows?" screen and I get an error message that says "Windows installation encountered an unexpected error. Verify that the installation sources are acceptable, and restart the installation. Error code: 0xE0000100" I dont know what to do to get passed this. Somebody please help me asap because I need my computer. Thanks so much in advance.

Try to install without creating a system partition. If you have or can obtain a full copy of vista use that to format and install. I do not think it will attempt to create a partition during install.

Re: Vista installation problem,, i need help ASAP

Hello Hussam.

I don't know if this will help you; I've seen "BOOTMGR is missing...." a couple times, when the primary SATA cable was moved to another connector, which in turn changed the boot order; put the cables back how they were, or the boot order can be changed using the BIOS to boot from the appropriate HDD.

Be sure to keep us informed.

I was saying that if you moved SATA cables (HDD connector cables) around and did not put them back where they were, that you should put them back where they were to start with; cables in the wrong order will cause a "BOOTMGR is missing..." error.

Hi Hussam,

disable AHCI mode for your disk controller in the system BIOS. Typically the controller has to be changed from AHCI mode to "IDE" or "ATA" mode.
