Error recovery and boot manager screens

I downloaded some updates offered by windows update last night. The first time my computer was restarted, i came to the windows error recovery screen and gave me the options of launching startup repair or start windows normally. I chose to start it normally and it started up just fine. But the next time it was restarted and came to the same screen, i could start windows normally it kept bringing me back to that screen. So i launched start up repair which brought me to windows boot manager screen that said to insert my windows installation disk, restart my computer and then follow the directions n prompts and to chose repair to fix the error(s). I did that and then my computer restarted again. Now it just goes back and forth between those two screens and wont let me get any further. The 1st error report i got was file: storport.sys status: 0xc0000221 The second was \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe status: 0xc0000221 said it may have been corrupt b/c the checksum didnt match the computed checksum. I need my computer, its got my lifes info on so if anyone could please help me i would appriciate it so much, really.

Re: Error recovery and boot manager screens

I'm not sure if this'll work (but it won't hurt).
Start up Startup Repair again, and select "Command Prompt" in the Advanced options dialog.

Type "sfc.exe /scannow" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
See if it runs and let us know what it says.

If it doesn't fix the problem (you still can't boot into Windows), then try the System Restore option in Startup Repair and set it back to a date before this error started happening.

Let us know how it works out.
