Recovery D backup full?

Help!! I keep getting this little bubble saying my recovery D is full. I deleted a ton of files and put all of my pictures on flashdrives but that was a waste of time, it didn't help. Since I'm really not a geek with computers, I'm sooo lost. My C drive says 218GB free of 288GB and D says 12.7MB free of 9.99GB Any idea how to fix this? Thanks so much (in english please, like I said, kinda slow with this stuff) ;)

Okay, that makes sense but it's still okay if I try to run a back up (or the automatic one does it every month) and it says "error there is not enough empty space to save the back up files. Free up disk space or change your back up settings.?" My last two back ups have failed. Thanks :)

I also kept getting the message "D drive nearly full". After a lot of working on the problem another forum had me run a program which told them I had a virus which they took out. I'm not smart enough to give any advise but get somebody to check for a virus. Bob

I think the easiest way is to go to the MY Computer Icon on your desktop, Right click, go to properties, go to system protection, then remove the check mark indicating that you want to shut down automatic checkpoints. Then restart your computer. Your D drive should be cleared. I would then make a manual restore point, since now you have none. Go back and replace the check for automatic restore points.

Okay, but I have a question. Will that affect my bookmarks in my Google Chrome, my Microsoft documents, my pictures, my downloads, my music, my Windows Mail, ANYTHING but the Recovery Drive? Cause when I look through the folders in it, they seem mostly like extra junk, and I just wanna clear it and start fresh, but I'm afraid it will delete my saved files and settings for other things. Your method SOLELY clears the Recovery Drive, and I can just click the automatic checkpoints and make a shadow copy for backups, and it will be fine? I don't want to mess with my other stuff.

Plus, how do you make manual restore point?

When I posted, I felt, and still do, that your personal stuff will not be touched. That being said, I would feel very uncomfortable if you acted on that advice and something backfired and you lost valuable documents. Therefore, back up your stuff, then do it, to be sure.

Please start your own thread, I did not realize that a second poster was asking questions.

I just edited my other thread, take a look if you will. Thanks in advance for dealing with me, I'm sorta new at this forum thing and just give my computer a long life. I like conserving things.
