Hello
I have had this problem for a now while. As you see in the title an instance of svchost.exe always using about 70,000 K (right now another using 88,000 K) in task manager and I would like to know why and if I can bring that number down. If I right click it and click go to Services, the following are shown:
wudfsvc
wpdbusenum
wdisytemhost
uxsms
trkwks
tabletinputservice
sysmain
pcasvc
netman
emdmgmt
audioendpointbuilder

Disabling Windows Update in Administrative Tools Services does nothing. I have
2 GB RAM also.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the reply and that does make sense but I do not have a "routine" of operating tasks on my computer which is what Superfetch seems to be for. For that reason, it would make sense that it is using a lot of RAM because it is loading so many tasks. Quite a flaw I reckon. Is stopping it going to make some tasks unstable or something along those lines or is it completely safe to stop to see if it changes anything?

EDIT
HOLY CRAP!!! I just stopped it anyway and the highest svchost.exe went down to 20MB!!! Thank you so much man. Now will that mean everything will be slower (no superfetch) or faster (more RAM)? LOL

Not obligatory.I also have disabled Superfetch and I didn't notice any difference with working system and applications :) -even I must say system startup is a bit faster

Well thanks for the help but...

The top process in task manager now is SearchIndexer.exe at 30MB RAM. Something tells me that's not right.

Dam that I just ended it and it came back when I opened Explorer. Oh well. I have also noticed from Superfetch disabling that another problem I had has disappeared. (Explorer hogs RAM)

MM ok I'll leave it. BTW out of curiousity, is it normal for a 12 year old (me) to be doing this stuff?
