    Shrinking the C drive vista dell laptop catastrophic error

    When trying to shrink the C drive on a dell laptop with vista a catastrophic error occurs. When the shrink volume demand is given the only message that comes up is catastrophic error. Is there anyway to fix or get around this error?

    What program are you using to try to shrink it?

    you can try these i know they work as i have personally used both.

    FREE EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition: Best Partition Manager freeware for Windows 2000/XP/Vista. - FREE

    Hard disk drive management software, partitioning manager and partition recovery utility - NOT FREE

    use one of the programs i linked above as vista partioning tools are not the greatest.
