Vista - Error Scan - Nothing Happens

After a couple of unexpected blue screen error crashes, I decided to try and scan my hard drive for errors and followed the instructions to run a error scan.

However, when I star the error scan, the error scan window disappears and nothing happens even after a while.

(On a side note I have multiple corrupt files that I'm not sure how to fix as I cannot run the chkdsk utility either.)

I use Vista Home Premium 32bit.

Hello Jejun, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You might see if doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before you had these problems may be able to fix it for you.

I remember trying to do the error scans and chkdsk quite a while ago, dunno when but probably around 3 to 5months ago, so I doubt a system restore would work but I could give it a try.

It may be to far back with that time frame. Hopefully you will still have one far back enough to work.

This may be able to help you get chkdsk to run at startup. Afterwards, see if you can then run the sfc /scannow command.
