Binary search and replace

My needs:
1. Must call a file (an application), ie start it, then suspend it immediately
2. Do a replacement of bytes in a binary
3. Restart suspended file
4. Replace former bytes that were replaced in #2

Batch files would be ideal, but VB and VBS would work too. I can compile code.

thanks in advance for any help.
