    In XP (I'm thinking it is similar as in Vista) take these steps:
    Click Start
    My Computer
    Right Click the drive you want to disable
    Click Properties
    AutoPlay Tab
    Then select the actions button and choose Take No Action

    ok, well in that case:

    Open Control Panel
    Type "Autoplay" into the search bar

    then just choose what you would like to do for each media type.
