Lost media player icon

I lost media player icon and could not access the player, but when I put a DVD in, it came back. Now I am afraid to exit because I have no icon to be able to call up the programme again. Do I have to resort to inserting a DVD every time? Won't work with a CD (defaults to Itunes)

There is a note saying that the thread is very old (2008) so I may not get any replies.

Re: Lost media player icon

Open C: (in Computer) > open Program Files > open Windows Media Player folder > right click on wmplayer.exe (not the other .exes) > now you can either pin it to the Start menu or Quick Launch or "send to" desktop so that you have a shortcut.
