    Tree is driving me crazy

Hi--I have been using Vista--64 Ultimate now for several months and a few things are driving me nuts. I cannot get the folder "tree" set up the way I want it, i.e. I do not want a Public Option under users and do not want this to appear but cannot delete it. Or why are my files in 2 places--under Desktop where I want them and under Computer, C Drive Users, Name, Documents. When I scan or do anything else I hate having to search for my files--they should go where I want them and stay--HELP!!!!!!!!

Re: Tree is driving me crazy

Hello Caremanager and welcome to Vista Forums.

The C:\Users\Public folders are used to share files since anything in these folders will be included in all user accounts on the computer. It cannot be removed, but you can hide the Public folder if you like.

Vista uses symbolic links with the User folders. The user folders from the Start Menu, or under Desktop in Windows Explorer, are linked with the C:\Users\(user-name) folders. Placing anything in one of these folders, places it in all locations like a shortcut.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
