installing os

i cant seem to install a new os, i wana install my xp version, seems vista is not good for gaming, so ima install xp

but i put the xp disk in and i restart and i get into boot menue
i choose to boot from the dvd drive
and press enter

and guess what

it boot like normal,

im sooo pissed,

vista SCREWS with me


im so (i shouldnt cuss)
i need help bad...

What I had here before removing XP entirely was a 3 way boot of XP, Vista, and 7. I never found any major improvement going back to XP having run Vista since day #1. But to decide for yourself there as well as just how you are going about trying to reinstall XP you might want to consider a dual boot as another option. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/224397-dual-boot-installation-windows-vista-xp.html

xp uses much less ram and also less cpu, vista is heavy on the graphic card.

First of all you won't be able to install XP over Vista being the newer version to start with. You will have to reformat the drive to see a fresh primary again. For that you will also need a 3rd party drive tool like GParted if you are familiar with that.

An independent tool like that will simply wipe everything for a fresh start over with XP. Another tool for stubborn installations also tends to remove partitions as well goes by the name "Eraser" which totally nukes any drive leaving it raw(unallocated). Browse Eraser Files on SourceForge.net

Either one of those will wipe the drive and are free! The live cd version of GParted is what you will want to look over first however since the Eraser tool is intended more as a security tool when going to sell or donate an old system to insure no personal data can be retrieved.

Once burned onto a cd-r you will want to look over the general instructions for use at GPARTED DOCUMENTATION - GENERALITIES

Actually the only thing you have to worry about once booted live from the cd and at the main gui is right clicking on the present Vista primary to select the format option. But you have to dropdown the list of file systems presented there to the NTFS option seen in lower case. You don't want another OS's file system with the default being the ext2 file journaling for Linux.
