Here's some suggestions for you:

Glary Undelete is an easy to use, yet powerful file undelete solution for FAT and NTFS file systems. It will bring back files emptied from the Recycle Bin, in a DOS window, from Windows Explorer with the SHIFT key held down. It will even recover files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses!

Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File Recovery - Home - Recuva is a utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses!

Shadow Explorer - ShadowExplorer.com - Downloads(ShadowExplorer.com - Manual - “How to” booklet to utilize Shadow Explorer) Shadow Explorer is an alternative program for "Previous Versions" (Shadow Copies), for those editions of Vista that do not offer Previous Versions or Shadow Copies.

REST2514.EXE - Download this, extract, run restore.exe and recover your deleted items.

Shadow Explorer ( ShadowExplorer.com - About ) is your best bet provided you have restore points. A while ago I made a tutorial in case you need detailed guidance : Tutorial: Recover lost files with Shadow Explorer « How-To Geek Forums

Re: My Document folder disappeared

Hi,

Try merging this:

DOCSDEFAULT.reg

You may need to reboot after.

Otherwise , system restore to a point before they decided to wonder off.

Re: My Document folder disappeared

Hello Crazier, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You might see if using Option One in the tutorial below can restore the folder for you, if not then see if Option Three may be able to.

Personal User Folder - Restore Missing Folder

Hope this helps,

Re: My Document folder disappeared

OK, this is probably too little, too late, but have you tried either repairing the corrupted files, or at the very least, recovering the text out of any/all of them? Here's how:

First, try to REPAIR the Word file:
Go into Microsoft Word and from the toolbar, click: File, Open
Locate and select the damaged file.
Click: the arrow at the bottom of the page, on the right side of the Open button
From the resulting drop-down menu, select: Open and Repair

If that doesn’t work, then RECOVER THE TEXT out of the file:
Click the MS Office button, and then click: Word Options
Select: Advanced
Scroll down to the General section, and select the “Confirm file format conversion on open” check box. Click: OK
Click the MS Office button again, and select: Open
In the box at the very bottom of the Open screen, next to the “File name” box, select Recover Text From Any File. (Doc must be saved in Word 97-2003 format to Recover Text from the file.)

Open the document as usual, and save it in any format.
