I am having trouble with a users machine. It keeps selecting multiple files in a explorer window. Also on the desktop. Once it starts it will not unselect the files.
Is there some settings I am missing or that can be set?
I would appreciate any help you have to offer.

Hello Wil, and welcome to Vista Forums.
You might see if using check boxes to select items can help for now to allow you to work in it.
Does clicking on a empty space in the window not unselect them?

Nope, tried everything on the keypad and clicking mouse. Esc didn't work either.

Refreshing the window (F5), or clicking on a empty space in the main part of the window should unselect anything by default.
