Solved File Refuses to delete as Windows can't "see" it!?

Hi I wonder if one of you could help me, this is sending me a little crazy!

I used a program (Flashget) to download a wmv tutorial onto my desktop. When files like these are downloading they have two icons, the actual file icon and a white 'in process' file which disappears when the actual file has finished.

For some reason in this case the white icon remained (believe the file download failed to activate)

I have tried many things and nothing deletes it. The file has no bytes and Windows tells me "This is no longer located in C:\Users\Me\Desktop. Verify the item’s location and try again."

I have tried refreshing the desktop, rebooting, using various system registry cleaners, used Move on Boot, MalwareBytes, R Wipe and Clean, Wise Disk Cleaner, Unlocker etc etc. I have also tried renaming the file (not found), renaming another file with the same name and popping it onto the desktop (this doesn't work because its called "filename.wmv." and the period/full stop at the end keeps getting corrected when I try to change another file to the same name). Actually I have now managed to rename an icon with the same name and Vista allows both of them to exist at the same time. I've therefafter retried deleting and renaming the troublesome file all these options have failed.

Any further tips very much welcomed as I've run out of options!?

Thanks

PS Ive also now gone tried to delete it via CMD and it says file not found..

re: File Refuses to delete as Windows can't "see" it!?

Just as soon after I'd posted this request and hours after starting to search for some help or program that'd work I found one that did this successfully and I'd use well various progs - well into double figures by that stage..

The one that worked for me and may work for others in a similar predicament is the trial version this:

DelinvFile - Utility for Deleting Invalid Files and Folders

This page describes "DelinvFile.exe" which is a Utility that you can use to delete data files that you have not been able to delete using the normal Windows Delete function. You could use the phrase 'delete undeletable files' to describe the program.
Most file delete problems can be overcome by using a DOS or Command window to:
1. Execute a Delete command referencing the Short FileName or
2. Execute a Delete command for the UNC form of the FileName.
However, it is quite difficult to manually enter a lengthy filename without error. Most of the relatively new computer users are not comfortable using DOS commands.
The current version of DelinvFile is 3.03.
DelinvFile supports Windows 95, NT4, 98, ME, 2000, XP and VISTA
